| 内容記述 | The distribution of free- and bound-vitamin B_<12> in the waters of coral reef of Heron Island, Australia was investigated. The contents of total and free-vitamin B_<12> were fairly high: 3.2-23.8 ng/l and 1.98-22.4 ng/l, respectively. The bound-B_<12>, which is a biologically non-active B_<12>, ranged from O.77 to 2.31 ng/l and amounted to 5.8-47.9 % (mean: 23.5 %) of total B_<12>. The content of free-B_<12> in the waters of coral reef was found to be close to the critical level which maximizes the growth of B_<12>-requiring phytoplankton. It seems that the abundance of free-B_<12> could support the high productivity of coral reefs. | |||||
