| 内容記述 | The occurrence of ophidiid and carapid juveniles was investigated in the western Pacific Ocean between 15ﾟN and 30ﾟN, and 123ﾟE and 140ﾟE. Thirty-five juveniles belonging to these families were collected by 22 out of 356 oblique tows using IKMT from a depth of about 350m to the surface from 9 June to 14 July, 1993 and from 16 May to 4 June, 1994. Four specimens of Brotula multibarbata 16.4mm−50.1mm total length (TL9) reveals that the barbel buds are visible in the 16.4mm TL specimen and its formation is completed by about 50.1㎜. A single, 31.0㎜ TL Ophidion asiro specimen represents the first finding of its juvenile in the western Pacific Ocean. Two Neobythites sp. juveniles, 22.7mm TL and 24.9mm TL, are closely similar to N. stigmosus or N. fasciatus, but clearly different from N. sivicolus and N. unimaculatus in fin ray counts. A single, 40.3mm TL Pyramodon ventralis represents the second juvenile record and the third juvenile specimen of the species in the western Pacific Ocean. It is clearly separable from its sympatric congener, P. lindas, in the count of total vertebrae. Two tentatively identified Echiodon anchipterus specimens, 26.9mm TL and 62.1㎜ TL, were collected. Twenty−five Echiodon. sp. juveniles of 24.3㎜-97.0mm TL were collected from 18 research stations. Important meristic counts of the species agree with those of Echiodon unnamed species described by Markle and Olney (1990). It is uncertain whether this is the same species reported as Encheliophis sagamianus by Okiyama (1988) or Echiodon unnamed sensu Markle and Olney (1990). This species is widely distributed throughout the present research area. | |||||
