Established in 2000, the Center is working as a base for letting people know about the wonders of the sea and for protecting the ecosystem of the area. The Center continues steady and community-oriented activities, which include 1 exhibition of samples of organisms living in the sea around Kashiwajima, 2) recording of marine life by taking underwater photos, 3) environmental education in cooperation with local elementary, junior high and high schools, 4) joint research with universities and other educational institutions and 5) acting as a go-between for fishers and divers and thus helping revitalize fisheries in the area.Based on the center’s activities carried out at a local field in Kuroshio waters, this paper shows present situation of biodiversity focusing on selected fishes under coral communities.}, pages = {33--38}, title = {Fish Fauna under Coral Communities in Kuroshio Waters around Kashiwajima Island in Kochi, Japan}, volume = {3}, year = {2009} }
